promises great show |
|
As Madonna prepares for her first
ever gig in Wales, not even she knows some of the closely-guarded
secrets about the concert.
Tomorrow night around 59,000 fans will descend on Cardiff's
Millennium Stadium for her first UK date in her Confessions
tour, the Queen of Pop will be seeing new props on the
stage for the first time. |

| As well as
a spectacular disco-themed backdrop, with an enormous
disco ball suspended from the ceiling and mirrored tiles,
there are two floor to ceiling screens adorned with
disco-style horses - which the equestrian fan has not
seen.
And tour manager Chris Lamb has assured fans it will
be the most spectacular show yet.
'It's the first time Madonna's played Wales,' said Chris,
who has worked with the star for more than 20 years.
'We'd heard about it because it's such a great stadium.
'The main part of the stage is exactly what we did in
America but we expanded it into a large stadium show.
This is an entertainment show. It's closer to theatre
than to a rock concert.
'This is one of the largest shows ever.'
The stage itself, which is surrounded by hi-tech screens
and lights, cost millions of pounds to construct and
took 250 people five days to erect.
Chris said: 'The cost of doing something like this is
pretty enormous but it's all kind of relative.'
He also denied the superstar hiked up the costs by demanding
new toilet seats for every gig she plays, although he
did admit said the Queen of Pop was queen of clean.
'It's not that crazy,' he said. 'It's not like she's
saying make me a fresh toilet seat. But we come in to
a lot of these stadiums where you have had footballers
using them. There's kind of a reason for changing it.
'She just wants the bathrooms clean. If we have to change
the toilet seats, we change the toilet seats.
DJ Paul Oakenfold, who has remixed several of Madonna's
hits, is supporting the star in the European leg of
her tour and said he could not wait to take to the stage.
'It's the first time she has had any support artist
on tour with her since the Beastie Boys in the '80s
so this is a real honour for me,' he said.
'I played Cardiff with U2 back in 1994 and that was
at Cardiff Arms Park, before the new stadium was built
so I really can't wait because it is such a fantastic
stadium.
'The whole experience is going to be really special.' |

to Broadcast MADONNA:
THE CONFESSIONS TOUR
LIVE |

| NBC announced
today the network will broadcast "Madonna: The
Confessions Tour Live" - a two-hour special set
to air in November 2006. |
|
|
| |
The special
will be taped this summer at Wembley Arena in London,
UK during her worldwide sold-out 25-city "Confessions
Tour" and marks the first-ever broadcast network
performance by the international pop superstar.
"Madonna is one of the greatest artists of our
time and never fails to generate excitement," said
Kevin Reilly, NBC Entertainment President. "We
think this is going to be a big event for television."
The concert special will feature songs from the artist's
recent multi-platinum Warner Bros. Records release "Confessions
On A Dance Floor," which debuted at No. 1 in 29
countries and has sold over eight million copies around
the globe. The broadcast will also include some of Madonna's
greatest hits from her legendary career.
In the course of an unparalleled career, the incandescent
star has racked up a staggering 35 No. 1 hits on Billboard's
Dance charts. The multi-Grammy winning artist, songwriter,
producer, best selling children's book author, video
visionary and cultural icon has sustained an unrivaled
reputation for astonishing stage spectacles and has
made musical history many times over including international
record sales of over 200 million albums.
The special is produced by Blackdog Films, Madonna,
Angela Becker and Guy Oseary, are executive producers;
Jonas Akerlund directs and Sara Martin produces. |

Oakenfold will
open the 'Hung Up' singer's concert at Cardiff's Millennium
Stadium, in Wales, on July 30 and join her on the European
leg of her 'Confessions' tour.
The DJ first supported Madonna in 2004 when she performed
at Slane Castle in Ireland. This year he will warm up
the crowds for her in Rome, Dusseldorf, Hanover, Horsens
and Amsterdam. Oakenfold has remixed several of Madonna's
hits, including 'Hollywood', 'Sorry' and 'American Life'. |

Please forgive
me. I really did hope and expect to come to Australia
during the Confessions Tour and asked my managers to
try to include some shows there. I have fond memories
from previous tours.Unfortunately, the logistics just
didn't work out this time around. We looked into going
from Japan to Australia and ending the show there but
I have to get my kids back into school in England and
they are, as you can understand, my most important priority.
The important thing to remember is that I'm not retiring
anytime soon and I am gonna get to Australia as soon
as I can. You remain in my heart and Thank you for your
continued love & support.

The ground
breaking video for Madonna's most recent single, Get
Together, was directed by the animation team called
Logan, based out of Venice, California. Logan has 20
employees and has worked on projects for Jurassic 5,Money
Mark, and Felix Da Housecat, commercial campaigns for
Apple iPod, Volkswagen, and Target, and experimental
projects ranging from fashion to architecture. Logan
cites Italian erotic comic book art, American science
fiction magazine, covers from the 30's - 40's, and explosions
from Japanese cartoons as inspirations for the animation
in Get Together. The Logan team submitted 3 different
versions of the video Get Together to Madonna before
it was approved. The verdict is in, Logan & Get
Together are a great match!
