Authorities: Madonna's Crucifix In Germany Not Crime
Singer Wears Crown Of Thorns Or Mirrored Cross In Concert.

DUESSELDORF, Germany -- Madonna is off the hook in Duesseldorf, Germany.

Prosecutors said they will not investigate a mock crucifixion she performed at her concert in Duesseldorf Sunday night.

The crucifixion scene has drawn criticism in Italy, and Duesseldorf prosecutors said last week that they would monitor reports about the concert for possible charges of insulting religious beliefs.

But on Monday, a German official said that while the scene might be "hurtful" to religious people, it's not a crime.

While performing "Live to Tell," Madonna wears a crown of thorns and rises from the stage crucified on a mirrored cross.

Madonna's people said the rendition is not disrespectful.
