The official press release for the musical
based on Madonna's 1985 "Desperately Seeking Susan"
coming to the Novello Theatre in London's West End has been
released:
Desperately Seeking Susan
will open in London at the Novello Theatre on 12 October,
with a press night on Thursday 15 November. This quirky
love story is set in New York City's vibrant Lower East Side
and driven by the pulsating energy of classic Blondie songs.
Based on the smash hit 1980's movie, this new musical is a
whirlwind fairytale of mistaken identity, magic shows and
rock 'n' roll.
Featuring all the best-loved
Blondie tracks, including "Call Me", "Heart
of Glass", "Rapture", "One Way or Another",
"Sunday Girl", "Atomic", "The Tide
is High", "Dreaming" and "Hanging on the
Telephone", the production will also introduce "Moment
of Truth", a new song by Deborah Harry and Chris Stein,
written especially for this feel-good romantic comedy musical.
|
|
Roberta Glass, a suburban New Jersey housewife,
escapes her humdrum life by reading the personal ads placed
by Susan, a street-smart New York City drifter, and her freewheeling
boyfriend Jay. Through a quirky twist of fate, Roberta and
Susan unexpectedly swap lives and are plunged into a madcap
world of jewel heists, magic shows and rock 'n' roll. The
collision of their identities takes them on a wild ride of
transformation and discovery until they realise that just
when you think you know where your life is headed, something
magical happens and turns it all around... |
|
|
|
Before there was Madonna and Gwen Stefani,
Debbie Harry was rock's reigning blonde pin-up icon, and both
are quick to acknowledge her inspiration, as are countless
female (and male) rockers since. The ultimate pop-rock diva,
Deborah Harry became an icon of the new wave scene and a queen
of New York, incorporating the influence of culture pioneers
like Andy Warhol, Giorgio Moroder and Fab Five Freddy into
her fashion, look and, particularly, sound. With Blondie,
she and Chris Stein brought the worlds of disco and rock together
with Heart of Glass and Call Me and broke ground by combining
hip-hop and pop on Rapture. |
|
Desperately
Seeking Susan will star Kelly Price as "Roberta"
and Emma Williams as "Susan".
Kelly Price has starred in the title role of The Rise and
Fall of Little Voice at the Watermill Theatre and as "Sarah
Brown" in Michael Grandage’s production of Guys
and Dolls at the Piccadilly Theatre and has also appeared
in Mamma Mia. Emma's most recent theatre credits include "Johanna"
in Sweeney Todd at the Royal Festival Hall', "Fran Kubelik"
in Promises, Promises at the Sheffield Crucible and "Truly
Scrumptious" in the original production of Chitty Chitty
Bang Bang at the London Palladium. She has also starred with
Steve Coogan in the British film The Parole Officer.
The show also stars Leanne Best, Mark McGee, Alec Newman and
Jonathan Wrather and the cast includes Lucy Banfield, Matthew
Boulton, Chloe Campbell, Matt Flint, Alex Gaumond, Victoria
Hamilton-Barritt, Kaisa Hammarlund, Paul Hazel, Christine
Holman, Steven Houghton, Toussaint Meghie, Twinnie-Lee Moore,
Steven Serlin, Chris Piper, Laura Scott, Lincoln Stone and
Gemma Whitelam. |
|
The musical
is written and conceived by American writer, director and
actor Peter Michael Marino, whose other writing projects
include Hollywood Nurses, an homage to lesbian pulp novels
of the 1950s, which had a sold out run off-Broadway and is
currently in development with The Drama Department in NYC
for a 2008 opening. Peter wrote, produced and performed the
title role in the critically acclaimed cabaret spoof Lance
Jonathan: All About Me!, and its sequel More About Me!, which
were met with critical acclaim, were nominated for several
Mac Awards and received the Bsckstage Bistro Award for Outstanding
Achievement. He has also directed and produced a dozen NYC
premieres. As an actor, Peter provided the comic relief for
four years in the Off-Broadway smash Stomp.
The musical is directed by
Angus Jackson, an Associate Director of Chichester
Festival Theatre, and choreographed by American Andy Blankenbuehler.
Set and costume designs are by Tim Hatley, with lighting design
by Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Bobby Aitken and Brian Beasley
and orchestrations by Martin Koch.
The show is produced in London by Susan Q Gallin, Ron Kastner,
Mark Rubinstein, Joseph Smith for Old Vic Productions with
Peter Kane, Nordby/Rawley Productions, Mary Lu Roffe in association
with MGM On Stage, Darcie Denkert and Dean Stolber and by
special arrangement with Deborah Harry. |

Madonna: Like an Icon by Lucy O'Brien |
|
|
Madonna is the biggest
female pop star in the world yet there is no serious biography
of her, and no biography at all by a woman.
Existing books are either gossipy style manuals or rehashes
of press cuttings and they all end in 2001 with Madonna's
marriage to Guy Ritchie. Yet her story hardly ends there,
as evinced by her two record breaking world tours since then...Lucy
O'Brien's extensive and well-researched biography will look
at Madonna the artist, giving detailed analysis of her music,
complete with revealing interviews with musicians and producers.
It will focus on her cultural impact and the way she uses
cinema, photography, visual art, theatre and dance in her
work. It will take an in-depth look at how - and, more to
the point, why - Madonna has reinvented herself through her
twenties, thirties, forties and will no doubt do so again
in her fifties. It will also look at the wider context and
include interviews with similarly crusading female artists
like Tori Amos, Laurie Anderson, Jeanette Winterson and Tracey
Emin. This will be, quite simply, the definitive Madonna biography. |
|
Book Reviews by Mark Beech |
|
Aug. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Madonna, the queen
of reinvention, has contorted herself at age 49 into an earth
mother with a religious streak and an adopted child from Malawi.
She works out obsessively, signs her own checks and frets
over why her hubbie, director Guy Ritchie, isn't nicer to
her.
This is the portrait that emerges from ``Madonna: Like an
Icon,'' Lucy O'Brien's overly earnest, turgid biography of
the bestselling female pop star on the planet.
O'Brien is a Madonna fan whose previous books include ``She-
Bop,'' a history of women in rock. Bantam bills her new work
as ``the closest you'll get to Madonna's autobiography.''
If so, it's because Madonna Louise Ciccone, a.k.a. ``Mrs.
Ritchie,'' has so far published children's books and a compilation
of sexual fantasies, not memoirs.
This biography does have a few things going for it. The writing
is clear, the discography is exhaustive, and the text is up
to date. It mentions Madonna's latest tours, the Live Earth
charity event in July, and studio sessions with Timbaland
for an album inspired by hip-hop. O'Brien also puts Madonna
in the context of other female artists, including Tori Amos
and Tracey Emin. Unlike previous books on Madonna, this is
erudite and thoughtful, not just a rehash of press clips.
Desperately Seeking Buzz
For all that, O'Brien fails to capture the essence of Madonna,
a headline-seeking provocateur who once declared that she
lost her virginity as ``a career move.'' This is, after all,
the Italian-American girl who worried that her notorious ``Like
a Prayer'' video, with its orgasmic love scene on an altar,
wasn't graphic enough.
The best tidbit O'Brien gives us is hardly a shocker: Her
marriage, we learn, was under so much strain that she considered
moving back to New York without Ritchie. ``Deep down, he blames
her for his career nosedive,'' an unidentified friend says.
Anodyne anonymous quotes permeate this book. Though O'Brien
spoke to Madonna's musicians, producers and dancers, she lacks
a reporter's knack for extracting telling remarks.
``She did not look happy,'' one unnamed person says about
the day Madonna visited the Kabbalah Centre in London to seek
a blessing for her new son. ``She seemed kind of isolated.''
Nor do we get any direct comments from the diva herself, though
it isn't clear why. ``My search for Madonna became maddening,''
O'Brien writes.
The author does throw out one tantalizing possibility -- that
her heroine ``will move further into the political arena.''
Then she backs off, saying Madonna will forever have a public
role, ``even if it isn't overtly political.''
Confused? O'Brien offers a tip: ``Whenever I am faced with
a conundrum, I always go back to the songs.''
I took her advice and put on Madonna's album, ``The Immaculate
Collection.'' It made a far better case for the star than
this book does.

The schedule lists three upcoming Madonna

the release has to be determined as well!
The fact that this list tentavive and that both the exact
release date and title for the album are not known yet, means
that nothing is certain yet!
The leak of 'The Beat Goes On' and the fact that Timbaland
will fly back to London to finish the album in September means,
on the other hand, that a release in october sounds very plausible! |

is Madonna reading these day |
| Maharanis:
The Lives and Times of Three Generations of Indian
Princesses by Lucy Moore |
|
|
|
In Maharanis Lucy Moore brilliantly recreates
the lives of four women: two grandmothers, a daughter and
a granddaughter, all of them princesses of the royal courts
of India.
Chimnabai, Maharani of Baroda, was a proud nationalist and
one of the founders of the women’s movement India. Her
husband famously snubbed the king of England during the Coronation
Durbar of 1911.
Sunity came from a progressive Bengali family but was married
as a teenage bride to the glamorous, anglophile Maharaja of
Cooch Behar. She was the first maharani to visit Britain for
Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee in 1887.
Indira, Chimnabai’s daughter, dared to reject the marriage
her parents had a arranged for her and eloped with Cooch Behar’s
son, Jit, uniting the two dynasties. A renowned beauty, she
combined here duties as Regent of Cooch Behar with a sensational
social life in Europe. Later she became a matriarch almost
as formidable as her mother.
And Ayesha, daughter of Indira and Jit, married the Maharaja
of Jaipur, a dashing polo players, in 1940. After Independence
she entered politics and made here name as an impassioned
critic of the corrupt government of Indira Gandhi.
In a gripping narrative set in exotic places on the subcontinent
as well as the drawing rooms of Europe, this powerful story
spans 150 years. Full of spirit and courage, each maharani
changed the world she lived in, shaping the way modern Indian
women define themselves. Through their story Lucy Moore creates
an intimate portrait of a nation during an era of great change-the
rise and fall of the Raj and India’s long road to Independence
and beyond. |

The amazing Annie Lennox is back! Her PR machine
clicked into high gear today and it was formally announced
that the singer's new album is titled "Song Of Mass Destruction"
and will be out in stores on October 2.
Click on the image above to get a better view of the very
theatrical and slightly eerie cover art for the new album.
In addition to being an incredibly successful artist, Annie
is a celebrated activist and humanitarian. The new album features
the soaring and powerful feminist anthem 'Sing',
born out of Annie's involvement with Nelson Mandela's 46664
and Treatment Action Campaign (TAC) - organizations fighting
for human rights, education and health care for those affected
by the HIV AIDS virus.
The track 'Sing' features 23 of the most recognized and successful
female solo artists in the world, invited by Annie, to raise
awareness and finances for TAC initiatives. Included among
the group are superstars such as Madonna,
Sarah McLachlan, Celine Dion, Fergie, Faith Hill, Pink, Dido,
Gladys Knight, kd Lang, Angelique Kidjo, Bonnie Raitt, Shakira,
Melissa Etheridge, Anastasia, Joss Stone, KT Tunstall and
many others, as well as TAC activist members own vocal group
known as 'The Genetics', whose CD of music inspired Annie

Rosenberg confirmed Madonna is considering leaving
Warner Music |
|
|
Madonna is considering leaving her current label Warner Music
Group (WMG) after her next two albums are released, her publicist
told FOXNews.com.
Among the alternatives the pop music icon is considering is
a deal with Los Angeles-based Live Nation, Britain’s
leading promotions company and venue owner, said Liz Rosenberg,
who represents Madonna and also works at WMG.
Music industry insiders have estimated such a move could be
worth $100 million to the Material Girl.
But before any new contracts with Live Nation, WMG or any
other company can be arranged, Rosenberg said, Madonna
will release her forthcoming and as-yet untitled album —
set to come out later this year or early next — and
a greatest hits album with WMG, the label she has been with
throughout her career.
"Once that’s done, Madonna
is a free agent," Rosenberg said.
"Her management is considering a move to another company."
The news comes only weeks after WMG stock dropped to an all-time
low, dipping below $10 to $9.79 a share, as reported by FOXNews.com's
411 on Aug. 7. |

aims to entice Madonna with deal |
|
|
|
NASHVILLE (Billboard) - The music industry
is buzzing with talk that Madonna is considering an exit from
her longtime home, Warner Music Group.
Most of the focus centers on a deal said to be in the works
with tour promoter Live Nation that would encompass recorded
music, touring, merchandising and other business concerns.
Live Nation, the world's largest live event producer and venue
operator, has produced Madonna's past three world tours, which
grossed about $400 million combined.
Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino has expressed a desire for
the company to form longer-term and more complex relationships
with artists. But a multifaceted deal with an artist of Madonna's
stature -- one that would include a label component as well
as a Madonna's lucrative touring business -- would be the
most ambitious undertaking under Rapino's watch.
One source estimated the value of the Live Nation offer to
be $180 million, with the company potentially licensing the
recording rights for about $30 million.
Madonna has two more albums due on her contract with WMG,
according to a label spokeswoman: an album of new material
is expected late this year or early 2008, and a greatest hits
project.
It is doubtful that WMG, the only label to which Madonna has
ever been signed, would give up the Material Girl without
a fight. Sources said that company has made a counteroffer
to Madonna that also includes a touring component that could
be helmed by rival promoter AEG Live. AEG Live declined comment.
The WMG spokeswoman said the label hopes to continue with
Madonna -- who is "worshipped and respected as a great
artist at the company" -- but is not surprised that she
is receiving rival offers. |

| Madge
gives her pals some gip |
| |
|
|
I never thought that Madonna would spend her
49th birthday with a bunch of gipsies.
But the Queen Of Pop — who has millionaires Brad Pitt,
Gwyneth Paltrow and Stella McCartney as friends — slummed
it on her big day yesterday with a traveller-themed bash for
20 close pals.
And Madge and husband Guy Ritchie laid on fab entertainment
at their country pile in Wiltshire.
The singer splashed out on The
Devil’s Horsemen to lay on an equestrian
show. The troop travel the UK dressed in medieval-themed costumes
to perform jousting shows.
Zoe Ross, manager of The Devil's Horsemen, confirmed the riders
did put on an equestrian show as part of Madonna's birthday
celebrations but could not give any further details on the
party due to a confidentiality agreement with the singer.
Madge must have taken inspiration from new best pal Eugene
Hutz, from gipsy punk band Gogol Bordello.
The pair performed a Romany-inspired routine to her hit La
Isla Bonita at the Live Earth gig last month. He played at
her party too.
I hear Eugene teamed up with Russian gipsy act Tthe Kolpakov
Trio to get guests dancing until dawn.
It’s amazing to think she’ll be 50 next year.
As I told you earlier this week, Madonna is planning to put
on a special gig at New York’s Central Park to celebrate. |

| RUMOUR
Big show for Madge’s 50 |
| |
|
|
|
Madonna is in secret talks to play a gig at
New York’s Central Park on her 50th birthday.
The Queen Of Pop will tour the US next year to promote her
next album.
And she has been racking her brains to come up with something
unique and special to mark her big day. Madonna turns 50 on
August 16 next year — and though not thrilled about
reaching the milestone she knows she won’t be able to
ignore it.
My impeccably placed source said: “One of the ideas
she loves is to do Central Park on her birthday.
“She came up with it and has been discussing it as a
serious possibility.
“She doesn’t like getting older but she knows
there’s no way she can pretend her birthday isn’t
happening.
“She is planning to kick off a world tour next June
in America to promote her new album. Playing at Central Park
would be the highlight. “She sees it as a huge televised
event.”
Simon & Garfunkel famously performed for free to more
than 500,000 people in Central Park back in September 1981.
Madonna has a huge connection with the city. She moved there
in her rebellious teens, it’s her spiritual home and
she performed a song called I Love New York on her last album,
Madge has been in the studio with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake
recording the follow-up to global smash Confessions On A Dancefloor.
They have been writing and recording in London and Madonna
plans to go back to New York in September to put the finishing
touches to it. She’ll then take a few weeks off to be
with hubby Guy Ritchie and children Lourdes, Rocco and adopted
son David.
The album is scheduled for global release in November.
Madge is also set to put out a 25th anniversary box set next
year to celebrate her years in the music business.
Better start saving up now for those tickets — one thing’s
for sure, they won’t come cheap. |

| Justin
Timberlake talks more about Madonna to Herald Sun |
| |
|
|
|
Paparazzi photographs of Timberlake and Madonna
leaving recording studios in London have appeared in magazines
all around the world.
The pair share more than a CV that includes kissing Britney
Spears.
So far Madonna, Timberlake and FutureSex/LoveSounds co-producer
Timbaland have written six songs for her forthcoming album.
"There's a couple of duets in there," a cagey Timberlake
says of his work with the queen of pop.
Madonna offering the creative olive branch to a young performer
(Timberlake is still only 26) must be like getting to meet
pop's answer to Yoda (admittedly a hotter version thereof).
She was topping charts when Timberlake was filling nappies.
"She's a very talented lady,"
Timberlake says diplomatically. "There are definitely
moments when I think, wow, I'm singing with Madonna. But she's
so cool. She's very clever, very innovative. I was humbled
working with her. She's fun to work with and she takes advice.
Plus she has an amazing mind."
Pressed, Timberlake says some of the Madonna tracks have grooves
that sound like her first album, but with more advanced lyrics.
"It kind of meets in the middle
between what she does and what I do. It's exactly how you
want to hear Madonna right now. It doesn't sound quite like
anything she's done yet it still sounds like Madonna."
Madonna's gravitating towards Timberlake is perhaps the ultimate
barometer of his acceleration from pop star to pop icon --
and of his credibility. |

Timbaland Talks About His And Justin Timberlake's
'Hot' Collabo With Madonna |
|
|
|
NEW YORK — Timbaland is finally back
in the States after touring overseas with Justin Timberlake,
and yes — his trip was productive. Not only did the
duo shoot a video with 50 Cent, but they also worked with
a cultural icon.
"We just did Madonna's record," Timbo said, sitting
in the "TRL" green room. He was part of the cavalcade
of stars — including Kanye West, Common, Rihanna and
Robin Thicke — who came out for the VMA press conference
on Tuesday (see "MTV VMA Race Is On: Justin Timberlake,
Beyonce Lead Nominations"). "Me and Justin did the
records" for the album, he continued, saying Madonna
is almost done with the effort. "She's great. ... She's
got a hot album. Her album is up there with Justin's album."
Tim says he and Justin wrote and produced 10 songs for Madge's
LP, many of which will make the club jump.
"Ah, man," Tim gushed. "There's this one song,
we taking it back to 'You must be my luck-eee starrrr!' ...
Remember 'Ugly' by Bubba Sparxxx? I got a beat similar to
that. The hook is no words. It's saying stuff named after
coffee — all these different names for coffee —
is the hook. ... The name of the song is 'La, La.' Pharrell
did a hot one for her too called 'Candy Shop.' She's off the
chain."
The production legend said there isn't a title for the opus
yet, but he will be reconvening with the singer in September
to finish it up. Other than Madonna, 50 Cent is the only other
person outside of Tim's Mosley Music Group that he's worked
with lately.
"I did some more records for him," he said about
his recent work for Fif. "I know he's gonna use them,
but I don't know for which album — this one [Curtis]
or the next one [Before I Self Destruct]."
During previous sessions, Timbaland produced "Ayo Technology"
for 50 as well.
"That's London, baby," he smiled while talking about
the song's wild video, in which there's some serious male/female
interaction going on (see "50 Cent Suits Up For 'Ayo
Technology' Clip With Justin Timberlake, Timbaland").
"London all day. We didn't do our scenes together. I
was tired. I don't know what [50] was doing. I know I was
tired, I know he was tired. It was fun, man. When I saw all
them girls, I was like, 'Where they get all these girls from?'
Then I went back to sleep."
(See Timbaland with 50 Cent and Justin Timberlake on the set
of the "Ayo Technology" video.)
As for what else is going on within Tim's musical family,
that cutie Keri Hilson is getting her debut right (see "Timbaland
Protege/ Justin Timberlake Collaborator Keri Hilson: You Need
To Know Me") and Tim and Missy Elliott have been talking
about doing another album together. |

Here’s
an exclusive and funny report from ENZO aka Hulaboy3 for Drowned
Madonna:
Madonna left New York tonight (Tues July 31) at 10:30 pm.
She took a British airways flight back to London. She was
with Angela Becker and her new assistant. There were about
4 fans and 2 paparazzi, no security at all, only her driver.
You were able to go up to talk to her if you wanted - very
quiet, no one said anything, just took our photos and video.
We watched Madonna go through airport security. She
had to take her shoes, jewelry etc off. Three times she went
through the metal detector and set it off. Each time she went
back and had to take off more jewlery or something else. On
the third try, she passed the detector without it beeping
and she turned around with her arms raised in celebration
that she made it through.
it was really crazy cause Madonna is like a baby, first she
tried to take off her bracelet and she couldn't undo the clasp
and so she put her hand out for Angela to do it. The next
time it was her watch she had to take off and once again she
couldn't do it and just stuck her arm out for Angela to take
it off for her.
All in all though, she looked much better in person than they
usually make her look in photos. Her arms looked nice, her
skin and face looked beautiful. Not too old or too skinny
or anything like that that we always hear.
Here are 2 pics that Enzo aka Hulaboy3 took. |

Could
Madonna be throwing her material weight behind Hillary Clinton's
presidential run?
TMZ spies caught Her Madgesty spending almost two hours at
the Harlem headquarters of President Bill Clinton's charitable
foundation yesterday afternoon, but neither Madonna's nor
Bill's camp would confirm Madge's presence. Madonna hasn't
endorsed any of the 2008 hopefuls, but the Clinton Foundation
has been the biggest single donor to Madonna's Raising Malawi
effort -- and she and Bill have worked together on medical
relief for the African nation.
Still, Madonna wasn't seen anywhere near the Lexington Avenue
HQ of Hillary's campaign. She was, however, spotted by TMZ's
cameras all over the city, from her morning workout on the
Upper West Side, to checking out artist-director Julian Schnabel's
new apartment building in the West Village, then up to Bill's
in Harlem and ending up in Midtown at the offices of HarperCollins,
which co-publishes her kiddie lit.

was spotted with a shorter hair do as she left a late night
meeting, that also involved two movie screenings with a friend
in midtown Manhattan. As she arrived home she could be seen
carrying what appeared to be several different scarves. Perhaps
she is working on a new style or she pick some gifts up throughout
her day. Either way it’s just great to see a picture
of Madonna that doesn’t involve her leaving a gym class. |

| Liz
Rosenberg on Madonna's new album |
|
|
Could
a 17-second snippet of a song called "Candy Shop"
be a leak from Madonna's upcoming album? Fans speculate that
it's of a track Madonna was working on with either Timbaland
or Pharrell — but reps for none of the three camps would
confirm. "I have no comment about the song 'Candy Shop,'
" Madonna's longtime rep Liz Rosenberg told MTV News.
"Madonna has studio time booked and is continuing to
work on her new CD. The songs are not mixed, and until that
time, we can't finalize the track list." The yet-untitled
album is due later this year. |

This
photo goes a little deeper than Madonna the rock star. I like
photos with a little drama in them. To me, it tells a little
about how much work she put into her career. I call this photo
"A Private Moment in Front of 80,000 Japanese Fans."
That photo is all about showbiz. |

Advert Escapes Censorship |
|
|
Pop
superstar Madonna's controversial advertisement for clothing
giant H&M has been given the green light by British television
censors.
The commercial, which sees the singer observing a young girl
getting whipped and stripped by two men, was accused of encouraging
paeodophilia by the U.K audience.
But the watchdog Advertising Standards Authority (asa) dismissed
the claims, insisting the commercial was "artistic".
They also said the actress in the commercial is 24-years-old
and insist she is not dressed in the style of a young girl.
However, the Asa agreed the advertisement would not be broadcast
during children's television programmes. |

| Madonna
eyes $100M Live Nation Mega-deal |
| Madonna
is pondering hanging up on Warner Music Group in
favor of life without a traditional record contract. |
|
|
With
the Material Girl's existing pact with Warner Music Group's
Warner Bros. Records winding down, her camp is considering
an all-encompassing music deal with touring giant Live Nation
that could be worth more than $100 million.
An agreement, if struck, would create an entity that would
manage all Madonna-related businesses, including albums, touring,
merchandise and sponsorships over a multi-year period. Live
Nation would acquire an equity stake in the pop diva's overall
business.
The joint venture company would then look to enter into an
agreement with a label to handle distribution and marketing
support of any Madonna album releases.
Madonna is currently in London working with A-list names like
Justin Timberlake, Pharrell, and Timbaland on the follow-up
to 2005's "Confessions on a Dancefloor." It's the
last studio album due under her existing pact with Warner
and is tentatively scheduled for release later this year.
Warner Bros. Records Chairman and CEO Tom Whalley, Madonna
spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg and Live Nation all declined to
comment.
Privately, insiders regard the Live Nation talk as the opening
salvo in what figures to be an extended re-negotiation of
her deal, which was last extended in 2000.
Sources say her camp has also been shopping to other labels
the joint venture concept, which follows in the vein of deals
inked by EMI with Korn and Robbie Williams.
"Confessions" - a commercial and critical comeback
from 2003's disappointing "American Life," was Madonna's
first album with the existing Warner management team of WMG
CEO Edgar Bronfman Jr., U.S. Recorded Music CEO Lyor Cohen
and Whalley.
It has sold over 1.6 million copies in the U.S. and spawned
a successful world tour that ranked as the top grossing series
ever for a female artist. The 60-date tour generated over
$193 million in reported revenues. |

Teams-Up With Ex-Boyfriend And NYC Mobster, Chris
Paciello |
|
|
|
Madonna has a new project she wants to work
on. She wants to make a film about her ex-lover and NY mobster
Chris Paciello.
The two had a two year relationship and their steamy love
affair ended when he ended up in prison for murder.
Madge has already met with him 3 times in the past six months
and some names that have been linked to the project include
Mark Wahlberg and John Cusack. Madonna seems to be really
close to all her exes no? I wonder how Guy feels about that.
“There's no romance. She is desperately keen to produce
a film based on the book Mob Over Miami about him.
“She has always been fascinated by tough guys and loves
his story.” |

Gets A Start On Fall Fashion - supports the new
Prada bag |
LONDON,
England -- The Material Girl proves she still has
what it takes to be the ultimate trend-setter!
Getting a head start on Fall Fashion, Madge was
photographed looking fabulously posh while carrying
Prada's new bag.
The glossy grey and silver faded patent leather
bag is from the upcoming Fall/Winter 2007 collection.
The bag has short double handles offset by iron
platens and is characterized by the use of umbrella
stitching and unique metal lettering logo.
Madonna, looking classic in all black, paired the
designer leather tote with an equally chic black
leather jacket, black wide-legged pants, and large
shades. |
|

|
Though Lady M opted for the grey and silver
choice, you can also accessorize with a nude and black color
version as well for just under $3000. |

| Get
your hands on Madonna’s BMW 7-Series |
|
|
|
|
|
A BMW 7-Series owned by the original Material
Girl Madonna is for sale on Auto Trader.
Madge is the only owner of this 2002 BMW 745 Li, which boasts
a range of luxury features.
Powered by a 4.4-litre V8, the Beemer produces 333bhp and
332lb/ft of pulling power.
This enables the 2.5-ton monster to rocket from 0-62mph (100kph)
in 6.3 seconds before running out of puff at an electronically
limited 155mph.
Inside, the saloon – which cost £61,000 new –
is fitted with sat-nav, TV, air-con, Nappa leather seats and
all-round electrics.
The BMW sits on 19-inch alloys and also features anti-lock
brakes, traction control and six airbags.
Madonna is the world’s most famous pop princess, gaining
massive chart success over the past 20 years.
She recently headlined the Live Earth gig at Wembley stadium
– an event organised by former US presidential candidate
Al Gore to highlight climate change.
However, Madge’s BMW isn’t the greenest vehicle.
Its large V8 engine manages a combined fuel economy of 24.4mpg
and emits 280g/km of carbon dioxide meaning an annual tax
bill of £300 per year.
And it’s not the first car we’ve featured on Auto
Trader to belong to musical royalty.
Over the past six months, cars owned by Robbie Williams, Gary
Barlow, Pete Townshend and Frank Sinatra have all appeared
on Auto Trader.
We even had a BMW M5 owned by Madonna’s husband, film
director Guy Ritchie on the site.
Now you can get your hands on Madonna’s BMW –
which has covered 98,000 miles – for £15,995.

Makes Malawi Movie |

Pop superstar Madonna has been devoting time
between motherhood, music and movies to a new documentary
about Malawi.
The Material Girl singer adopted son David Banda from the

visit to the country she immediately started filming a short
movie about the problems people face there.
Her spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg tells The Scoop,
"She's been working on it for a year. Very intense. And
profoundly sad - not for the faint of heart. She did an amazing
job, I must say."
As well as the documentary, Rosenberg confirms Madonna has
also been working on new tracks with Justin Timberlake, whose

The Material Girl attended with her producer,

“She was texting on her mobile, eating crisps and yawning
just before the show began!” according to one fan report.
Madonna was wearing a black hooded cape and was surrounded
by bodyguards. “When everyone realized it was her and
started chanting ‘Madonna!’ she put the hood on
and went under the seat.”
Madonna’s rep Liz Rosenberg confirms to The Scoop that
Madonna was indeed in the audience, explaining that the two
are working on a CD together. She added that Madonna has also
been hard at work on a documentary about Malawi, and had a
private screening that she attended with her husband, Guy
Ritchie.
“She’s been working on it
for a year,” says Rosenberg. “Very intense. And
profoundly sad — not for the faint of heart. She did
an amazing job, I must say.” |
