| Madonna
gets tarty on film set |
|
|
Madonna,
the queen of pop, became queen of tarts, after she went in
search of a sugar rush to help her through her first attempts
at directing a film.
The global superstar was spotted directing her new 30-minute
comedy, ‘Filth And Wisdom’, in Exmouth market,
London.
But before there were any lights, camera or action, Her Madgesty,
took time to fuss over cakes, tarts and biscuits on display
at the vendors’ stalls.
Wearing no make-up, scruffy hair and baggy white sweat pants,
the lady in-charge told one stall worker: ‘Those (cakes)
are very bad.’
But in the end he persuaded her, saying: ‘I managed
to sell her a lemon tart for 1.50.’
Squinting in the sunshine, she then returned to her director’s
chair for her sunglasses, sipping on a Starbucks and sending
text messages.
The 48-year-old stunned shoppers when she and a 20 strong
crew rolled in to film at a local chemists.
One passer by said: ‘It was a huge surprise to see such
a big star. She looked in great shape for someone her age
and treated us all to a little tour.
But while fans were thrilled, her production crew were left
waiting around and yawning and smoking in anticipation.
Flanked by three security staff and her assistant, she was
in no mood to be approached.
Chemist staff working inside the store, said:
‘She didn’t talk to us.’
‘I smiled at her and she ignored me’
‘She was very moody, very unapproachable and didn’t
talk to anyone.
‘She looked tired and awful.’

| Costner
forgives Madonna after concert apology |
|
|
Kevin Costner has forgiven Madonna for poking fun at him in
her Truth Or Dare backstage documentary, after she took time
to publicly apologise to him during a Los Angeles concert.
Madonna feigned sticking her finger down her throat to be
sick after she was filmed meeting Costner after a show - an
action the actor admits 'embarrassed' and 'hurt' him.
But, a decade after the incident, Madonna made up for her
bad behaviour when Costner took his daughters to see her in
concert.
He tells the Los Angeles Time newspaper, 'She was performing
about three or four years ago, so I decided to take my daughters
to see her. I didn't call anybody for tickets, I just got
the tickets and we went down....And about the third song in,
the lights were down, and she said, 'I want to apologise to
someone.' All of a sudden, my face starts to get hot....And
she says, 'I want to apologise to Kevin Costner.' She just
said it very simply. 'Ninety eight per cent of that audience
didn't know what she was talking about.'
'But I really respected that....Whatever possessed her, whatever
was inside her, she came to her own decision and a bigger
thing came out of some kind of humiliation.' |

| Madonna’s
concert “crucifixion” is example of
evangelizati? |
| The Colombian
daily El Tiempo published a column by a priest who
said he has seen Madonna’s DVD of her latest
concert tour and defends her “crucifixion”
and nudity and calls the show a model of evangelization. |
|
|
In a column entitled, “Madonna: A Suggestive Presentation
of Jesus,” Jesuit Father Carlos Novoa, former dean of
the Department of Theology at the Javeriana University, said
he was impressed by the “deep spirituality” of
some of Madonna’s choreography and claimed her parody
of the crucifixion “is not a mockery of the cross, but
rather the complete opposite: An exaltation of the mystery
of the death and resurrection of Jesus” and a “creative
and moving” work of art.
Father Novoa said the DVD recording of Madonna’s “The
Confessions Tour” was something worth viewing for its
“high aesthetic quality.” The song “Live
to Tell,” in which Madonna is “crucified,”
“is one of the best sermons I have witnessed in my life,”
and he challenged Catholics to follow the example of the singer.
“In this postmodern, skeptic world in which so many
people abhor or are simply uninterested in the faith, will
ministers of the church and Catholics in general have this
audacity and this creativity to communicate a Jesus who truly
shakes people up on the inside?” Novoa wondered.
The Jesuit priest also defended “masculine and feminine
nudity,” expressed not through “cheap pornography”
but through “erotic beauty.” He compared Madonna’s
choreography and nudity with the works of Michelangelo, “who
filled the walls of the Sistine Chapel, the sacrosanct place
where the holy father is elected, with frescoes of nude men
and women.”
Father Novoa said renowned artists and art critics consider
Madonna to be “one of the best choreographers of our
times.” “In her excellent stage presentations,
she sometimes makes use of both male and female nudes, which
scandalizes some, as in the case of Michelangelo,” he
claimed.
Novoa acknowledged that some of Madonna’s antics are
“ridiculous,” but, he claimed, “they said
the same thing about Beethoven when he debuted some of his
best compositions and about Picasso, one of the great guides
posts of modern-day art, when he presented his master works
in 1907: “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.” |

takes a leaf out of Guy’s book with film debut |
|
|
Even
a seasoned showbiz hand like Madonna needs a little support
when she takes on a new venture. So her director husband Guy
Ritchie was on hand to pass on tips as the Queen of Pop clocked
up a first directing a movie.
The 30-minute short Filth And Wisdom features a subject matter
that strays not too far from her area of expertise. The superstar
singer has revealed the film is based on her own life experiences,
but has otherwise kept details of the project hush hush. “I
hate to be a tease, but you know how I am,” she told
fans.
On the shoot in a London street market this week the Material
Girl, dressed in a casual green tracksuit teamed with a skull
and crossbones cap, was all business giving instructions from
the director’s chair.
Characters reportedly include an Indian chemist owner, a Jewish
businessman and a failed ballet dancer who takes up pole dancing.
Madonna is hoping filming will wrap by July when she aims
to be back in the recording studio. Meanwhile, her other half
is set to return to film-making with RocknRolla a low budge
gangster flick he has written and produced himself. |

Filth and Wisdom - Exclusive
Madonna is delighted to step behind the cameras for her movie-making
debut |
QUEEN
of pop Madonna started shooting on her new mini film in London
yesterday.
And the Razz can exclusively reveal some details about her
attempt at breaking into directing.
Filth and Wisdom is Madge's first short - at a planned 30
minutes long. It's a low budget comedy insiders claim will
be based on her own life experience.
After getting a sneaky peak at some characters, I agree the
storylines will undoubtedly reflect that. Madonna, who earlier
in the year directed the TV ad for her M by Madonna campaign
with H&M, said: "I am happy
to confirm I am working hard on a new project, directing my
first short movie. While I cannot tell you more about it for
now, I am happy to officially reveal its title: Filth and
Wisdom. I will finish this in time to go back to the recording
studio in July. I hate to be such a tease, but you know how
I am."
The shoot is seen as an attempt to prove to hubby Guy Ritchie
that she can crack it in the film world as a force to be reckoned
with behind the camera.
Madonna has auditioned for actors over the last month and
asked for a variety of characters to make her filming dates
in London from May 14 - 29.
Among the parts she has created are that of an Indian chemist
owner, a Jewish businessman and a failed ballet dancer who
ends a up being a pole dancer.
Madge, whose last film role was in the slated Swept Away,
was already spotted visiting West London lap dancing club
Secret, in a bid to pick up tips on dance technique and find
the perfect actress for the part.
The film is expected include lots of raunchy scenes in a similar
vein to an Irvine Welsh film and with Madonna's reputation
and history of sexual awareness fans shouldn't be disappointed.
An insider said: "Shooting has just started and it's
a chance for Madonna to showcase another of her talents.
"It is just a short film at the moment but it's expected
to be a hit at film festivals."
Madonna has also just announced that she has recorded a song,
Hey You, with Pharrell Williams.
She said: "I'll release it as a
Live Earth charity track. I hope you'll support this project.
It's very important to me." |

“Open your mind” summarizes smart’s approach
to building cars, and it’s this thinking that has resulted

Live Earth will implement new “green event” guidelines
at each concert venue that will address the major areas of
impact of live events, including recycling, food and beverages,

site itself. From power generation at the concerts to garbage
generated by concert goers, Live Earth will seek to “design
out” waste and bestow an eco-friendly legacy on the
live events industry.

Celebrity production companies are starting to pull their

the companies get sent videos of people who aspire to be actors,
performers, magicians ... etc. and using a draw they put an
assortment of these videos online where viewers, like you
and me, can vote on their favourite!
The winners will be flown to Hollywood and there they will
audition for talent scouts and if you are a wannabe actor
then you can win a Maverick produced movie or show! The details
are still pretty vague and the fact that one can vote for
themselves several times online is still an unsolved problem

Madonna swaps sweet charity for lap dancing |
Three weeks after returning from Africa for a charity mission
to help orphans, Madonna has moved her focus - to lap dancers.
The singer put saving the world on hold while she auditioned
tabletop dancers for her latest project, rumoured to be
a short film.
Visiting London club Secrets, the mother of three looked
decidedly demure in baggy trousers, an open collared shirt
and dark oversized glasses.
She briefly wandered around outside the premises with a
giant coffee in hand, before heading in to meet the hopefuls.
She is said to have asked a number of girls to read from
a script before taking to the stage to perform.
Madonna recently returned from Malawi where she spent six
days with her daughter Lourdes and son David, 1, whom she
is adopting.
Friends say Madonna is looking to adopt daughter from the
country, although her publicist has denied this.

Madonna has turned down the chance to perform
as Evita at this summer's Diana concert. |
|
|
Madonna has rejected a request to appear at the Diana memorial
concert this summer, according to reports.
The pop icon has already agreed to appear at the London leg
of Live Earth, the global series of concerts designed to highlight
climate change.
However, the Diana show, which also takes place at the rebuilt
Wembley stadium, is just six days before, forcing her to turn
down the offer.
Madonna was apparently asked by Andrew Lloyd Webber to reprise
her role as Evita at the gig, which will feature Take That,
Kanye West, Lily Allen, Sir Elton John and Joss Stone.
Explaining her decision a 'source' told a UK tabloid: "Live
Earth approached Madonna first and she is committed to performing
there.
"It would be extremely hard to rehearse for both gigs
at the same time and she wouldn't want to give less than 100
per cent to either."
The Diana memorial concert takes place on July 1. |

But a whole bunch of wonky indie artists are making it okay

Manimal Vinyl. Way back in February, we told you just a bit
about the CD/LP, but we're just rolling in the details now:
there's a full tracklist, a few new artists on the roster
(Ariel Pink chief among 'em), a September 4 release date,

is none other than Gabe Serbian of the Locust. We're also
told of a pair of release parties in Los Angeles and New York
featuring many of the compilation's artists, plus "a
special guest." No details yet, but could it be the former
Mrs. Penn herself? |

| Back
home, Madonna gets down to business |
Stepping
out after a sumptuous dinner at the grand-luxe Claridges
Hotel in London on Saturday night, Madonna looks
every inch the groomed superstar.
Dressed in an elegant beige safari suit with her
glossy hair tied back, the singer turned heads as
she left Claridge's in London on Saturday night.
One onlooker said, "She looked very smart as
she left the hotel, and seemed cheerful."
The businesslike attire was a far cry from the laid-back
look the 48-yearold adopted a fortnight ago on a
controversial visit to Malawi with son David Banda.
There she was happy to dress down in a T-shirt and
sarong and let her wavy hair hang loose.
With husband Guy Ritchie out in the West End, Madonna
cut a some-what lonely figure as she left the hotel
after dining at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. |
|
|
The couple have spent a lot of time apart in recent weeks,
sparking speculation that they may be feeling the strain of
the intense media circus surrounding her Malawi trip. |

| AMAZING
25 YEARS OF MADONNA |
|
|
MADONNA
is celebrating 25 years in pop - a far cry from her arrival
in New York in the late Seventies as a teenage dancer with
just $35 in her pocket.
The singer later said it was the bravest thing she'd ever
done - she had to resort to nude modelling and serving coffee
in Dunkin' Donuts to make ends meet at first.
But in 1982 Madonna
Louise Veronica Ciccone took the first tentative steps towards
becoming the world icon she is today.
She is now the most successful female artist of all time,
with more than 200 million album sales under her belt and
a fortune worth more than £172million.
To celebrate her silver jubilee, here we chart her rise to
Queen of Pop.
1982 Madonna signs a deal with Sire Records and releases her
first single, the self-written Everybody. Despite being a
club hit, it fails to impact on singles charts.
1983 The dance chart
success of Madonna's second single, adouble A-side 12 inch
of Burning Up and Physical Attraction, convinces Sire Records
to put up the cash for an album. Simply called Madonna, it
sells three million copies worldwide and young girls everywhere
start to copy the singer's style.
1984 The Madonna album
spawns three hit singles - Holiday, Lucky Star and Borderline
- then the star cleans up with her follow-up album, Like A
Virgin. She also sparks controversy by appearing at the first
MTV Music Video Awards in a bridal bustier and stockings.
1985 Madonna receives mixed reviews of her acting in
the film Desperately Seeking Susan, but one of her songs from
the soundtrack, Into The Groove, becomes her first UK No1.
She marries actor Sean Penn.
1986 Her third album True Blue spawns five chart-topping
singles, including Papa Don't Preach and La Isla Bonita.
1987 Not a good year for the Material Girl. She and
Penn are rowing and her film Who's That Girl flops at the
box office.
1988 The Vatican urge fans to boycott the Italian leg
of the Who's That Girl tour declaring Madonna an unfit role
model, but residents of Pacentro want to honour her with a
13ft statue of her dressed in a bustier.
1989 The singer divorces Penn, but signs an endorsement
deal with Pepsi which sees her debuting new single Like A
Prayer in an advert for the drinks giant.
1990 She appears as Breathless Mahoney in a film adaptation
of comic book series Dick Tracy. The Thirties feel of the
film inspires her fifth album, I'm Breathless, and November
sees the release of The Immaculate Collection, her first greatest
hits compilation.
1991 Madonna stars
in her first documentary, In Bed With Madonna, which follows
her on stage and behind the scenes of her Blonde Ambition
Tour.
1992 The release of
the Erotica album brought the singer yet more controversy
due to its high sexual content.
1993 The Girlie Show
World Tour saw Madonna dress as a whip-cracking dominatrix
surrounded by topless dancers and caused yet more outrage
around the world.
1994 With all the
sex out of her system, Madonna turned to amore R'n'B flavoured
sound for her seventh album Bedtime Stories. This was also
the year she starts a relationship with fitness trainer Carlos
Leon.
1995 Starts work on
the role of Eva Peron in a film adaptation of the musical
Evita. The soundtrack becomes her 12th platinum album.
1996 Evita is released
to huge critical acclaim and Madonna gives birth to her first
child, Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon.
1997 Madonna ends
her relationship with Leon.
1998 The singer storms
back into the charts with the Ray Of Light album, which later
wins four Grammy awards.
1999 She tops the
singles charts once again with her single Beautiful Stranger,
recorded for the movie Austin Powers: The Spy Who Sh****d
Me.
2000 Madonna marries
film director Guy Ritchie at Skibo Castle in Scotland, just
a couple of months after the birth of their son, Rocco John,
and releases album Music.
2001 The star sets
out on her first tour in eight years, the Drowned World Tour.
2002 Madonna writes
and performs the theme song to James Bond film Die Another
Day. It is nominated for a Golden Globe for best original
score and a Golden Raspberry for worst song.
2003 She releases
her 10th studio album American Life to mixed reviews. Selling
only five million copies, it is her lowest selling album.
2004 Performs Hollywood
at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she snogs pop princesses
Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on stage.
2005 Her 11th studio
album, Confessions On A Dance Floor, becomes a runaway success
with 10million-plus sales.
2006 Music is no longer
the hot issue after Madonna and Guy Ritchie adopt a baby David
in Malawi. Madonna is deeply involvement with Raising Malawi
and Spirituality for Kids.
2007 Madonna is named
the fourth wealthiest woman with an active career in entertainment
by Forbes magazine. |

| Celebrating
25 Years Of "Everybody" |
|
|
It may seem like only yesterday but 25 years ago on April
24, 1982, Sire Records honcho Seymour Stein released a single
called "EVERYBODY" on Warner Bros. Records by an
unknown singer from Rochester, Michigan by the name of Madonna
Louise Veronica Ciccone. To say the world would never be the
same is an understatement. The song went on to become a huge
dancefloor hit and was heard all over the radio in the Summer
of 1982. That little girl from Michigan would go on to become
one of the most famous entertainers and cultural icons in
history - selling close to 200 million records and remaining
a star of enormous magnitude and influence for the next 25
years. She's just getting started. Long Live the Queen and
Happy Anniversary to Madonna. - Liz Rosenberg |

Happiness is like
a butterfly - the more you chase it, the faster it flies away.
But if you sit still a moment, you will find that it rests
gently upon your shoulder. |
| “I
basically see no limits to what you can achieve,” Madonna
told Sky News. “Why would I not want to make more music?
I love it and so do my fans. I have more club music in mind.
It’s where I started and funnily enough, it’s now
huge again. I’m writing the new album now, while we're
on tour.” - MADONNA |
